Cetyl Myristoleate - The Natural Arthritis Product and Immune System Enhancer

Cetyl Myristoleate, or CMO is a natural arthritis product and immune system enhancer, that is largely unknown to the general public. It is also beneficial for joint health. Let’s shine a light on this interesting and effective supplement.

Cetyl Myristoleate CMO - A Natural Way to Joint Health, and an Effective Arthritis Product

In technical terms it is a fatty acid ester combination of cetyl alcohol and myristoleic acid. Cetyl alcohol is made from the saturated fats found in palm and coconut oil. Myristoleic acid is found naturally in nuts and vegetables.

CM was discovered by a chemist named Harry Diehl. He built his own lab and through a long and painstaking process isolated a substance in mice that seemed to be immune from arthritis. CMO appeared to be a natural immune system enhancer!

This substance was the esterized form of myristoleic acid, and naturally exists only in the bodies of sperm whales and beavers. Diehl found a way to synthesize this substance and produce it in the lab, and thus the natural arthritis product CM was created.

From the Lab to A Patented Product

Harry Diehl was a talented chemist, but not a businessman. After he discovered and synthesized cetyl myristoleate, it languished in his lab for some 15 years. He knew he had something special, but didn’t quite know what to do with it!

When he began having problems with arthritis, he decided to try it on himself and found it worked wonderfully. It wasn’t long before family members also wanted to try it, and they too found great relief from their arthritis with this amazing substance.

Diehl received a use patent in 1977 for CM to be used for rheumatoid arthritis. He filed another patent in 1996 for use in osteoarthritis. Harry Diehl had a natural arthritis product with no side effects. Not surprisingly pharmaceutical companies showed no interest in it.

Eventually Harry Diehl marketed his new product under the trade name MyristinTM, and it was formulated and sold by EHP products, a business founded and run by his daughter Elaine Diehl.

What Does it Do?

CM offers significant relief from and improvement of arthritis symptoms in several different ways.

  • Functions as a lubricant, reducing friction in your joints
  • An immune system enhancer modulating the autoimmune response
  • Functions like an EFA (fatty acid) in mediating the inflammatory response

What this means in English, is that it alleviates the pain and inflammation of arthritis and other autoimmune diseases in several ways, and does it with no known adverse effects! In some cases a 30-60 day course of CMO is all that is required for many months of joint health and relief from arthritis.

Form and Dosage for CM

Cetyl Myristoleate CMO comes in several forms, a cream for topical application, gel caps, or capsules for oral use. In many instances, a 10-30 day period of daily use will be all that is required to provide relief from arthritis symptoms. In some people it will take several courses over time, each lasting 10 days or so.

As a rule it should be taken 30-40 minutes on an empty stomach before meals, or several hours after. The recommended dosage is approximately 2 grams taken in two or three divided dosages throughout the day. These should be taken with the fat digesting enzyme called lipase to break down the CM. Some products come with the enzymes included.

As an arthritis product, the advantage that CM provides over drugs is that there is no known toxicity. Also where drugs weaken the immune system, cetyl myristoleate acts as an immune system enhancer, protecting the body from autoimmune reactions.

What Results Can You Expect?

You can expect significant reduction in pain, stiffness, and swelling from all types of arthritic conditions. While not a cure for these conditions, you should experience effective relief of symptoms, and increased range of motion in affected joints. This relief can last any where from a few months to a couple of years depending on the severity of the condition and the other steps you are taking to eat better and exercise properly.

There are a number of other health problems that appear to benefit from the use of cetyl myristoleate such as:

  • Asthma
  • Emphysema
  • Hepatitis
  • Diabetes
  • Eczema
  • Psoriasis
  • Allergies

Some people such as Dr. Douglas Hunt M.D. have described cetyl myristoleate as a true antiaging supplement. Considering the important of fatty acids and the immune system, this seems perfectly in line with how it works and the results people obtain with its use.
