The Naked Cafe - Best Organic Restaurant in San Diego

The Naked Cafe'

I wanted to impress my sister and her boyfriend down for a visit from San Francisco and show them that we do have a few healthy choices even in North County.

I chose the Naked Cafe in Carlsbad for its fabulous menu of fresh organic produce, whole grains and plenty of soy products and vegan options.

We were there for brunch so our choices ranged from the Fresno Chile and Feta Egg White scramble with whole grain spinach tortilla with salsa and organic quinoa; to the Pesto and Artichoke hearts quesadilla.

Everything tasted so fresh and healthy we all fell in love with the place from the first bite. I only wish it were open in the evenings as well. It would be the perfect place to kick back with some girlfriends on a warm summer evening.

There are also locations in Point Loma, Solano Beach and Encinitas. I hope nothing is lost in this expansion as I feel like I have found a true hidden gem.

Native Foods Cafe - A Palm Springs Alternative

by Channing Thomson
(San Francisco, CA, USA)

The Native Foods Cafe

The Native Foods Cafe

I recently ate dinner at Native Foods Cafe in the Smoketree Shopping Center in Palm Springs, CA. This organic restaurant is a wonderful alternative to the mediocre, standard fare found in so many Palm Springs area restaurants.

First of all, I should tell you that they have some coupon deals that can bring your dinner down to about $20. with two entrees and drinks (fresh lemonade, organic ice tea). Also, they have a sort of card membership program that results in free meals down the road if you eat there frequently.

The juices were fresh squeezed and delicious, no added sugar but some additional flavorings from natural sources like cactus. My dining partner and I enjoyed the fish tacos. These were faux fish, battered like regular fish tacos but made of a gluten product -- everything at the restaurant is meatless.

We also had a lovely salad (they have unusual Native American and Mexican names) made with lots of fresh greens, jicama, avocado, and other surprise ingredients. Like the tacos, you can also get salads that contain faux chicken. They use a native word for these "meats" that I wasn't familiar with.

There was one small problem with the tacos -- the hot sauce was so incredibly hot, made from some sort of cactus/chile combination, that it was simply too hot. I'm glad I experimented before putting a lot on my dish. We were full by dessert but they apparently serve a wonderful strawberry shortcake that they are famous for.

Service was really wonderful with the wait staff being very helpful to make suggestions and explain aspects of the meal. All in all, I'd go back there for something health and different!

Follow Your Heart to a Great Meal in Canoga Park

by Barbara
(Acton, California)

Follow Your Heart Organic Restaurant

Follow Your Heart Organic Restaurant

One of my favorite organic restaurants in the Los Angeles area is "Follow Your Heart" on Sherman Way in Canoga Park.

While Follow Your Heart has been around for many years, I became familiar with this organic restaurant after my daughter chose a vegan lifestyle.

This is a great lunch spot with a wide variety of sandwiches, salads and entrees on its menu. I especially enjoy the Melted Cheese Sandwich, which uses rennet-less cheese.

While my son, who sometimes joins us and is definitely not vegan, finds the Follow Your Heart Burger "beefy enough" to satisfy even his substantial appetite.

My daughter and others who join us from time to time select a variety of dishes, and are always pleased. It is close to shopping, the service is friendly, and the food is great.

Follow Your Heart is one organic restaurant my daughter and I can always agree on.

Try Mothers Market Organic Restaurant in California

by Jim Weiss
(Laguna Beach, CA)

My wife decided that our family should only eat organic, no more fast food. Yikes what have I gotten my self into I thought?

We live in Laguna Beach, Ca, so we headed over to Mothers Market in Laguna Hills, Ca last week to do our organic shopping and grab a bite to eat in their organic restaurant.

We ordered orange carrot apple juice with a shot of wheat grass for our drinks, and I ordered the lental nut loaf, aka meatloaf.

I thought organic here I come! The food and drinks arrived very fast, and the drinks were so incredible I downed 20 oz in a few seconds. Then I sheepishly tried the lental nut loaf.

WOW this was the Best, I was totally blown away, you could have fooled me I sure thought I was eating red meat.

I highly recommend Mothers Market and organic restaurant to everyone; I have just converted to the organic lifestyle.

Thanks Mothers Market for showing me the way.

My First Organic Restaurant Visit in Redondo Beach, CA!

by Claribel
(Long Beach, California, USA)

The Green Temple Vegetarian Organic Restaurant in Redondo Beach, California is the very first organic/vegetarian restaurant I have ever visited.

A couple of my friends who are vegetarians have been raving about this place for months. I finally decided to go with them three weeks ago to try it out.

Even though I am not vegetarian, I was not at all hesitant to try this organic restaurant out because I do love to eat vegetables and organic foods. I was very happy with the outcome of our visit.

The food was so delicious and I was amazed with the selection of menu they had to offer. The quality of food was excellent as well. Everything tasted fresh and so healthy. The best part of course was the price, which was very affordable.

My friends and I shared an appetizer of Nachos with organic corn tortillas. It was pretty tasty and I really like the white cheddar cheese that they make it with. For my main dish, I decided to order their Blue Plate special, which came with a veggie burger and sides of mashed potatoes and broccoli. The burger was also very tasty and filling.

I definitely enjoyed The Green Temple and would highly recommend this organic restaurant to others who live or visit the Los Angeles County/South Bay area.

Pizza Fusion, Clovis CA

by Casey
(Madera, CA)

I've eaten at Pizza Fusion in Clovis, CA about 4 times now.

I'm vegan and they serve delicious vegan pizza. My favorite is the one with the garlic. My whole family enjoyed eating there. My two-year-old daughter ate 2 pieces all by herself, and that's a lot for her!

My favorite local pizza place, because it's the only one that has vegan cheese! It's great that a lot of the vegetables they use are organic. They taste so fresh and look so colorful and bright. Not like other pizza places, with their dull and flimsy vegetables and toppings.

The third time we went there, the pizza took a long time and got a tiny little bit burnt. They apologized profusely and let us have the pizza free and made us another one. They have great customer service!

I'll be eating there again and again, and so will the whole family! Excellent pizza.
