Many years ago my child was doubled over in pain. The first thing that came to mind was that he was constipated. Upon questioning him, that was the problem. Ironically this child had suffered dehydration as a baby due to diarrhea.
I knew the diarrhea diet consisted of apples and bananas so there is fruit that does not help constipation. I ran to the store and looked through the isles and finally settled on prune juice. I found that 1/2 cup a day did the job.
My neighbor on the other hand took her son to the doctor for constipation. The doctor gave her a suppository and explained how to use it. He instructed her that if her son had not defecated by nightfall to use the suppository.
They left the doctors office and pulled up in the driveway, the boy got out of the car, marched in the house and went right in the bathroom and did the job.
Why? He was afraid of the suppository---I guess you could say he had the crap scared out of him. How to relieve constipation? Apparently prune juice or suppository scare tactics both work!

Soak In A Tub Of Warm Water
This is one of the natural constipation remedies that has worked well for me. Soak in a tub of water as hot as you can stand the water for at least 30 minutes, warming the water as it cools off. This is a remedy I have used for pets, and surprisingly, it works for humans too!

Whenever I need natural constipation remedies, I find that if I eat a good size amount of cashews, walnuts, or blueberries, (my foods for constipation), I get relief by the next morning.
I do not like to eat too many blueberries by themselves, so here is what I do.
I take about 4 cups of frozen blueberries and put them into a food processor. Add approximately 1/4 cup of milk and 1/2 package of sugar free vanilla pudding mix. Blend until the mixture has the consistency of ice cream.
If desired, the walnuts or any other of your favorite nuts can be crushed and added to the top of this dessert. This mixture, for me, proves to be very effective for relieving minor constipation. Hope it works for you too.

Senna Tea for Constipation

My personal remedy for constipation is Senna tea, and Senna capsules. My preference is the tea because it causes elimination faster than the capsules.
The tea has an unusual taste, but once you begin using it, you will acquire the taste.
The capsules are tasteless and odorless but takes a little bit longer to absorb through the bloodstream. You can buy the tea or capsules at any store that sells vitamins and herbs.

No one likes to talk about how to treat constipation, but this problem can affect your overall well-being.
I have found the following foods for constipation to be helpful using one at a time and going down the list. It is especially helpful for those who have undergone surgery and are taking pain medications, which also leads to constipation.
