How Can I Be Free From Pains by Lifting Weights

I am Jangam Vazrakar from India, while I was doing my graduation at NIT Jalandhar (2008).
I want to know now the tips how to improve my muscle strength. My legs and backbone are really paining while I was doing the gym in my college, so that’s the reason I stopped going to gym.
Whenever I start lifting dumbbells, my hands pain a lot. Please guide me so that I can overcome all these problems.
