Hormonal Balance and Autoimmune

by Rachel
(Atlanta)

I am 34 and have been diagnosed with Chronic Lyme Disease.

Tests have shown that I have had it for over five years and I can date symptoms back to 7 years ago.

My skin has lost the elasticity it once had, and of course, I am tired most of the time, and I experience strange aches and pains.

My hair has become thin and I am losing strength. I am an active person, but I find myself fighting to find the stamina to get throughout the day.

I have lost my sex drive and no matter how much I exercise and diet I am not losing weight, which is not normal for me.

My question is can hormonal balancing help fight the symptoms that are associated with Chronic Lyme?

Hormonal Balance and Lyme Disease
by: George Parigian Jr.

Hi Rachel,

This is a challenging question. I do not have expertise regarding Lyme Disease. However there is a strong connection between the immune system and the endocrine (hormonal) system.

Keep in mind that the body is a system, not just a collection of organs and tissues. All the body's systems are interrelated.

It would stand to reason that if you had hormonal imbalances, and those imbalances were corrected through bioidentical hormone therapy, that your overall health would improve, and that your body would be better able to cope with the Lyme Disease.

Since the doctors who do bioidentical hormone therapy tend to be antiaging doctors and practice functional medicine, they would likely be able to address the Lyme Disease as well.

Here is an antiaging doctor in Atlanta

Jeffrey Donohue M.D. - BodyLogicMD of Atlanta

I would advise that you check him out and explore the possibility that by balancing your hormones properly, your entire system would benefit and be better able to deal with the Lyme Disease.

Please let me know how this works out for you.

Best Regards,

George
